The New Zealand Regional Sector Group (NZRSG) of the HIWG began in 2006. The group is made up of buyers and suppliers in the broad hardware industry supply chain in New Zealand.
The NZRSG mission is:
(1) To develop and promote industry-agreed e-trading recommendations that create business value and address impediments in the broad Hardware Industry in New Zealand; and
(2) To ensure that all HIWG guidelines and recommendations that are developed meet the requirements of the broad Hardware Industry in New Zealand.
The overall aim is to drive the hardware industry in New Zealand forward with B2B e-commerce using a standardised and industry-agreed approach, leveraging work being done by the HIWG in Australia (and not reinventing the wheel) – thereby cutting costs out of the overall supply chain.
In 2008 there were 11 financial members of the NZRSG.
- The Chair of the NZRSG was Peter Jameson (Redeal).
- The Deputy Chair of the NZRSG was Brent Powell (PlaceMakers).
- The HIWG TDG representatives from the NZRSG were Barry Dowdeswell (NZRSG Facilitator) and Capree Lim (PlaceMakers representative).
In 2008 the NZRSG Facilitator was Barry Dowdeswell (AARN Innovation) and the HIWG Liaison was Cathy Thawley (HIWG Facilitator, Australia). The NZRSG was also supported by a representative from GS1 New Zealand.
In 2006 and 2007 the Chair of the NZRSG was Andrew Ryan-Kidd (ITM NZ) and the NZRSG Facilitator was Cathy Thawley (HIWG Facilitator, Australia).
Much work has been done over the past few years by the NZRSG group. Refer to NZRSG Achievements.
In September 2008, it was agreed by its members that the NZRSG be suspended for the remainder of 2008 and until such time that the group, or others in the industry, wish to reinstate the group, as a Sector Group of the HIWG, to work collaboratively on B2B e-commerce implementation issues in the hardware sector in New Zealand.
