  • Establishment of the NZRSG with appropriate links to the HIWG in Australia (Chair of the NZRSG is a member of the HIWG Steering Group in Australia)
  • Engaged the HIWG Facilitator in Australia to facilitate the NZRSG
  • Development of an annual NZRSG Work Plan including “principles”
  • Selection of a local NZRSG coordinator for the group
  • Establishment of an NZRSG area of the HIWG website at www.hiwg.org.au
  • Ensuring that any specific NZ requirements for B2B e-trading are incorporated into the HIWG formats/guidelines (ie. HIWG Flat File specifications, HIWG UN/EDIFACT EDI guidelines, HIWG FFXML schemas)
  • Contributing to the development of the HIWG FFXML schema development and documentation
  • Included NZRSG representation on the HIWG TDG (Technical Development Group) in Australia
  • NZRSG members have begun to implement HIWG guidelines wherever possible/appropriate
  • Regular NZRSG meetings are being held in Auckland to provide a forum to resolve implementation issues as they arise as well as knowledge sharing and planning of events
  • Encouraging service/software providers in the industry to build capability to use the HIWG recommended formats and guidelines when requested by clients
  • NZRSG members have undergone HIWG Flat File Pricat Training (a course developed in Australia) to determine its applicability in NZ. After some revisions, this training will be made available to others in the industry (jointly with GS1 NZ)
  • The NZRSG have promoted their work in the NZ Hardware Journal and will continue to promote the activities and outcomes of the group whenever possible
  • Held a free B2B E-Commerce Awareness session (on 24 May 2007) for the broad hardware industry to learn about the HIWG/NZRSG, HIWG guidelines and an overview of the B2B activities being undertaken by NZRSG members. Presentations made on the day are available from NZRSG Downloads
  • Held free HIWG-GS1 Training Sessions (open to all those working in the broad hardware industry) on GS1 Numbering and Bar Coding and the HIWG Flat File Pricat (10 and 12 July 2007)
  • Held a free HIWG Training Sessions (open to all those working in the broad hardware industry) on Basic UN/EDIFACT EDI (29 August 2007)
  • In 2008 appointed a local NZRSG Facilitator (Barry Dowdeswell, AARN Innovation) with previous Facilitator (Cathy Thawley) taking on an HIWG Liaison role - in order to move the group to a more self-managed group
  • Held quarterly meetings for members to identify and discuss issues being faced in the industry and impediments to the uptake of B2B e-commerce
  • Invited a representative from GS1 NZ to attend meetings in full and participate in the work of the NZRSG in order to find ways to work together to benefit the industry (eg. training, data synchronisation, etc.)
