Greenlife Industry E-Commerce Group (GIEG)Minimize

The Greenlife Industry E-Commerce Group (GIEG) began in 2002. The group is made up of representative organisations from the greenlife/nursery supply chain.

The GIEG mission is to:

(1) Ensure that the B2B e-commerce guidelines and recommendations made by the HIWG accommodate the requirements of the greenlife industry; and

(2) Promote numbering and bar coding of greenlife products following the GS1 system.

The GIEG does not aim to be prescriptive about how business is transacted but rather encourage the use of standards to assist cutting costs out of the supply chain for all.

There are 10 members of the GIEG.

  • In 2006 the Chair of the GIEG was Richard Faithorn (Oasis).
  • In 2006 the Deputy Chair of the GIEG was Warren Mortimer (Ball Australia).
  • In 2006 there was no GIEG representative on the HIWG TDG (Technical Development Group).

The GIEG is also supported by a representative from GS1 Australia (Tania Snioch).

In 2006 and the first half of 2007, the GIEG was focussed on its work on the GIEG-HAL Project (see GIEG Projects). This was completed in May and the GIEG has been suspended for the remainder of 2007.
