The Electrical Industry E-Commerce Group (EIEG) began in 2002. The group is made up of buyers and suppliers in the electrical industry supply chain.
The overall aim is to drive the electrical industry forward with B2B e-commerce using a standardised and industry-agreed approach, thereby cutting costs out of the overall supply chain.
The EIEG mission is to provide in independent industry forum to facilitate the uptake of B2B e-commerce in the Electrical Industry using the HIWG guidelines and recommendations.
In 2006 there were 13 members of the EIEG.
- The Chair of the EIEG in 2006 was Trevor Batten (MM Electrical Merchandising).
- The Deputy Chair of the EIEG in 2006 was Ian van Haeringen (B&R).
- The HIWG TDG representatives of the EIEG were Phill Eves (Prysmian Cables) and David Webster (Olex).
The EIEG was also supported by a representative from GS1 Australia.
Much work has been done over the years by the EIEG. Many collective, electrical specific issues have been addressed and members have agreed to suspend the group for the time being.
The EIEG has been suspended for 2007 and until such time that the group, or others in the industry, wish to reinstate the group to work collaboratively on B2B e-commerce implementation issues in the electrical sector.
